We Make A Difference In Lifes
"That Others May Live"
Our organization offers several services to our community. One of which is helping to find lost or missing persons which is where we started.
When called by Agencies or family for help in a search, we bring an added expertise to the table as this is all we train in. We use mapping programs to assign segments for teams to search, identify hazards that need to be searched first and provide valuable information to Law Enforcement should it need and to provide us with tools to better future searches.
While there is no grantee that a loved one will be found with favorable outcome, our promise to you is that we will stay on the search until every possible hint, clue or avenue has been exhausted.
Each and every search is unique as no two are alike. And each is an emergency!
We now, since incorporating into a 501 (c)(3), added teaching to our portfolio. Our educational services offers several National Certification courses such as Introduction to Search and Rescue (ISAR), Search and Rescue Initial Actions (SAR IA), Urban Search Management (USM), SARTECH II, Fundamentals of Search and Rescue (FUNSAR) and SARTECH III and will be adding Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Fundamentals of Man Tracking soon.
While we are a completely volunteer organization, we relight greatly on our fundraisers and donations which is used to further our team members training, equipment and of course our grants for training Law Enforcement and Fire agencies within our community and finally and most importantly, to pay for various expenditures realized during a search.
As you can see, funding is an important part of our organization. At NO time will any agency or family be sent a bill for our services!
Please know that the old saying "they have to be gone 48 hours before a missing person report is done" is no longer the case! You can file a missing person report the second you notice a loved one is missing.
You can file a missing person report immediately!
Both is correct! Typically the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) will call our Team Director.
or
You can call the Team Director yourself.
Keep in mind that if we are called by you or family, we will speak to the AHJ first to ensure it is ok for us to come. There are many factors that may play into a search where they want to hold off on calling us.
Of Course! We would greatly appreciate it AND your donation is Tax Deductible!
Any donation you make can be ear marked for your specific request and will not be used for anything else.
Of course! Unfortunately, we charge a fee for the courses as we have to pay NASAR a base fee and we have printing and other costs linked to the course we need to re-coup.
We are not in this to make money and what little we can get will help support further training, search support, equipment and maintenance.
If you have a group or just yourself that wishes to take any of the training we offer, please feel free to contact us.
We will also have a “Events” and “Training” calendar up soon so you can keep an eye out for classes we will be scheduling.
We are always looking to add to our team! If you are interested, please contact us or fill out the application under the “Join Us” link in the menu above.
At the heart of Sharp County Search and Rescue are our dedicated team members, each bringing a unique set of skills and a deep passion for making a positive impact. Our professionals work tirelessly to ensure the highest level of care and support for every agency, individual or family who turns to us for assistance.
Our Volunteers that make up the team all maintain a SARTECH III certification or better, CPR, Crime Scene Preservation, Ham Radio, and FEMA IS 100.
Most typically go on and obtain further certifications such as Wilderness First Aid, SARTECH II and more, all on their own dime unless our funding can provide an offset.
